A blog about my experience using coupons in Alaska to save money for my family of 6. I love using coupons and searching for great deals via the internet, papers, etc. I share the deals I find so others can save money too!

Black Friday Confusion
Oh the insanity of it all! I am really looking forward to BF but I feel like I need a good game plan and the more I look at the online ads I just get more confused and overwhelmed. It's the unknowns that are making it tough to plan and maybe a little denial too. I really don't want to get up any earlier than 5am- I think I am talking myself into 4 (which translates into 4:15-4:30) and then I'm wondering if that is just too late and not even worth getting up early at all?? Last year I hit Walmart right at 5 and the place was packed BUT I still got the items on my wish list and in fact I left there and came back several hours later and still found items in stock. I have never started BF at any other store but I am thinking of hitting Target first this year. I guess I need to get my list made and then decide where the biggest savings is. I always go with the attitude that it will probably be gone before I get there and then I am excited when there are still some in stock. Any tips??
I am pretty excited about the Target toy sale/coupons this week and if I could get out of my house and across the skating rink aka roads, I would be there right now, instead I just have to settle for reading the deal blogs and dreaming. Maybe tomorrows post will read "all the great deals I found at Target". I have hope.

Pond's Wet Cleansing Towelettes Deal at Target-
A few weeks ago I read about a target gift card deal that was for Pond's Wet Cleansing Towelettes but I wasn't able to take advantage of it until now and it ends 11/20 but this is the deal... Buy 2 packages of Towelettes that have a bonus pack attached for 5.99 each and get a $5 gift card- use 2 $1.50 ip coupon, and 2 $1 target coupon and pay just $1/pack after gift card is figured in! These were on the end cap near the pharmacy. I hope the Target coupon is still available, it doesn't show up on my coupon list but I have already printed it twice, so not sure if it is still there or not.
Another Trip to Target and Walgreenls!
OK- I might as well fess up- I LOVE to shop. I really do go to the store a lot, it may be counter productive to my goal of using coupons but... I do love a good deal :-).
First, this has nothing to do with coupons or savings but I want to share anyways :-) I had to go the DMV in Palmer today and I was shocked to get in and out of there in less than 5 minutes. I use to live in MI and it was nothing to wait hours so this started my day with a good vibe! Nice job DMV.
I had to pick up a new prescription at Target today and got to use the coupon for a $10 gift card on a $5 prescription- love it. The pharmacy was very busy and the opposite of my experience at the DMV but to make it a little more fun I thought I would buy my husband and I one of the yummy special holiday drinks since I had read that they were offering a B1G1 through this weekend- well, they aren't participating at the Starbucks in Target (not sure about other locations) HOWEVER... they are offering the same deal on their Tall beverages- the only difference is it is just that size, as opposed to all of the sizes offered at other locations. That was OK with me and I still had a few dollars left on a gift card from last Christmas (I am not a big coffee drinker so it took me a whole year to use a $10 gift card LOL) so I got our coffee treats for just .75 out of pocket. Well, the wait got to be even longer than expected so we ran over to Walgreen's and I was thrilled to find the Sinex in stock (it was probably there the other day but I was looking in the wrong spot!) so I bought 2 of those, a 2 liter of the new pomegranate 7UP (delicious!) and a Colgate toothpaste that I thought was 2.49 with a 1rr and I used to $4 off of Sinex coupons, and $1 off of the Colgate- my total was 5.50ish and I got back a $5 rr - I did not get one for the Colgate and I don't know if it was my mistake or not but I was running out of time and decided I was happy with getting all of those items for .50 anyways. I had hoped to get sweet potatoes and sparkling juice but both were out of stock - still not a bad day. I came home with more money than I left the house with (thanks to the $10 gift card for the prescription) and several other items. And to top the day off I picked up my mail and had several freebies including a pair of athletic socks, a very nice Harley Davidson poster and several magazines and lots of coupons.

Carr's Hefty Storage bags??
Carr's has a B1G1 on their Hefty brand storage bags and in their Fall coupon book (found in cosmetics at Wasilla Store) there is a coupon for a free box of Hefty 1 Quart freezer bags when you purchase Hefty Onezip ValuePack. I have no idea if this can be turned into a deal or not but if anyone else knows please share :-) It looks like Carr's might have some good deals, I just looked at the ad this morning and haven't done any matching but I did notice a lot of B1G1 at the store and then in the freezer section they had a lot of buy 2 get 1 free. I didn't see these in the ad but maybe it was in Sunday's and I just overlooked it.
What I do know... I went to Target yesterday and I really went in hopes of finding some of the lower 48 reports of great deals on the Toys Story 3 tag reader being on clearance and after coupons for $5, also the $10 on 3 women's sleepware Target coupon resulting in free clothes and the baby alive doll being clearanced down to $5- Well, after all my excitement to find even 1 of these deals I am disappointed to report no such luck in Wasilla. I did get cheap Stovetop stuffing using (2) $1.50 Kraft coupon and .50/2 target coupon (only had 1) and another mfr. for $1 /2 - in the end I bought 6 boxes of stuffing for $1.50! All 3 of my school aged kids took food in for various donations that were being collected today and it was great sending them off with those boxes and some sweet potatoes from Walgreen's for .79. Last week I purchased a lot of baked goods at Walgreen's for some great prices and have the opportunity to donate some of those items this week as well. It's fun to get a good deal and even more fun when you can pass it on to someone less fortunate. It would be even more fun to teach people that don't know and could really benefit how to use coupons so they could score the same deals year round!
I couldn't pass up the pop deals this week at Walgreen's while I was out. I thought I was well stocked from the last sale but apparently we go through a lot of pop so I will pick some more up today to get through the holidays. I looked for the Sinex to do the money maker deal with the Vic's RR this week but didn't see any- still picked up the Dayquil/NyQuil and Ecotrin (for .50) to donate and 2 free Gain dish soap. I spent more out of pocket at Walgreen's than I have in a long time but I do have some RR's to use on next weeks sales.
And last but not least... Fred Meyer. Yes, I went to all of these store yesterday :-). I didn't have my kids and it was a pleasure to shop even if I didn't find all the deals I was hoping to find! I was excited to see the Silk Soy milk on sale for 2.79 and used $1mfr coupon from the Carr's coupon book - 1/2 gallon of choc. silk for 1.79. Also bought a lot of apples for .98/lb and the cream cheese for 1.67 and use the $1/2 Kraft coupon - $1.17. The other items were just things we needed and no great deals.
My goal is to check out the Carr's sale a little closer and if I do find some good deals I will report back tonight :-) If any of you have some great finds please share!

Target deals today
Some times I can spend hours shopping at Target. It's true, I know the store doesn't change that much each time but if I am coupon shopping, clearance shopping for the house and/or clothes it can take a long time. I rarely have that much time without the kids so I don't do it often and today was NOT one of those days but I wish it was. Instead it was a quick in and out and so I am sure there are more deals that I didn't see or take advantage of but I thought I would share what I thought to be a good buy.
I bought a fusion razor on clearance for 3.98 and used a mfr 2.00 coupon. I have gotten these cheaper or even free in the past but I am collecting toiletries for a family in need and thought for 2.00 this was a nice razor.
I also found a Garnier Fructis Style gel w/ a free travel size of the conditioner on clearance for 1.67 and used the 1.00 mfr coupon from the Sunday paper and only paid .67 for 2 products.
I bought 2 boxes of Prevacid 24 hr (14 count) priced at 10.98 and used the $5 target coupon ( it says 1.00 off but it prints 5.00 off and scanned for 5.00 off) and $4 ip coupon paying just 1.98 each.
I also bought the FurReal Lulu's Walkin' Kitty on sale for 19.99 and I used the 50% off coupon from Target and paid 9.98. It seemed worth that to me and it just about finishes up my Christmas shopping for my 2 yr old daughter- the real trick is going to be self-control because I also have 3 boys to shop for but LOVE all the little girl things and tend to buy way too much for her. Her birthday was in Aug. and I had bought so much for her that she got overwhelmed opening up the gifts and I realized how ridiculous it was so I kept about 1/2 of the gifts to give to her for Christmas :-).
I also went over to Walgreen's and picked up a few of the baking supplies that they had marked down with their coupon flyer this week and I found some other coupons to match up. I won't go into any detail since that sale ends tonight but I was happy with the deals I found on sugar and coconut.
It looks like there are a few good match-ups at Walgreen's this week. I need to take another look through the preview ad and I will try to post the things that grab my attention. Happy shopping!

Disney Movie Coupon
What deals I have seen this week
I was at Target yesterday without coupons. Can you even Imagine? LOL in Wasilla they have double packs of Right Guard deodorant clearances to $3.54 combined w/ the b1g1 in Sundays paper you can get 4 for 3.45 or .86 each. There was a coupon for 3.00 off of 2 and you could play with that to buy even more at a lower price.
Toy Story 3 comes out tomorrow but the only deal I saw was @ Carr's, has anyone else seen a good deal? I didn't get in on the Toys R Us deal because it was just too many trips into town but I would really like to get this movie. Hopefully Carrs will have it for the same price as Target plus the freebies.
