A blog about my experience using coupons in Alaska to save money for my family of 6. I love using coupons and searching for great deals via the internet, papers, etc. I share the deals I find so others can save money too!

Fred Meyer Frenzy
I can not even admit how many times I was at FM this week- let's just say there were a few days that I actually went twice but that's because I wasn't very organized and forgot a few of the deals and also they were out of some items I was really hoping they would get back in stock so I stopped by a few times to check. In the end I think it was a great week to save at FM and I stocked up today on the raisin bread, yogurt and apples. I have not had a sneak peak at this weeks ad but hopefully there will still be some good deals to help ease me off of the savings excitement of this week. I also made one last past to Walgreens to pick up some more pop and nivea body wash (finally got my 2nd computer to print YAE!). I usually don't get too excited when I see the lower 48 posts about the Walgreen Ad because too often I am let down that we don't have the same deals up here but if we do there looks like a few more good deals.

Great Walgreen Pop deal
2 Liters of 7up and A&W are on sale for $1 this week BUT the deal gets better... IF you buy 10 you will get a $3rr and 2 free red box codes! There is a little yellow card on the shelf explaining the above deal- it's very hard to read and all I could make out was if you bought 10 you would get a red box code- I was extra excited to see that it was 2 codes and the 3RR! So go grab some cheap pop and don't forget the Nivea body wash too :-).

Quaker Oatmeal and other deals at Target
Target has Quaker instant oatmeal on price cut for 3.60- not a great price except it includes the 18 pack boxes (variety flavor and Maple and Brown Sugar)- so if you have the $2 off IP coupon - then you can get them for 1.60 and that's equal to paying .88 / box for the 10 count- pretty good deal! I also found the 12 count boxes of pop tarts on sale for 2.50 and used the 1.00/3 IP coupon = 6.50 for 3 boxes or equal to getting the smaller box of 8 for $1.44. I also bought 2 boxes of Huggies (110 size 5 diapers) for 38.00 - 2.50 mfr and 2.00 mfr = 33.50 and got back a $5 gift card to make them 28.50 or .26 a diaper- I am use to getting them on sale for $8 for the smaller package of 24 (.33/diaper) so was happy with this price and I don't have to run to the store for diapers for a while. I know there are other brands that are cheaper and if that works for you then I envy you- I have not had good luck with the cheaper diapers so I get the cheapest I can find between Huggies and Pampers. (what I am really hoping is I can get my daughter potty trained soon! :-))
I am definitely out shopping this week so I will post if I see any other deals.

Fred Meyer Trip
It was a fun shopping trip albeit a bit busy there. I don't know if I got any "amazing" deals but I am pretty happy that I was able to get some organic and healthier foods for a good price. Not to mention the junk food too! I bought 4 boxes of Honey Nut Cheerio's for a $1.50 - marked down to $2 and I had some $1 off of 2 any general mills cereal coupons. Stocked up on the Frito chips $1.50/ bag for a party we are having in a few weeks and I bought 2 cases (24 pks) of Coke Zero for $12- not a fabulous price but one of the few soda's my husband really enjoys and it's always nice to buy something for them when they know you did it just because they like it ;-). Stocked up on the bread at 1.25 a loaf and includes the raisin cinnamon- yum! I've been getting the Target white bread for under a $1 lately but that stuff is cheap for a reason and although my kids don't complain I really feel better giving them bread with a little something to it. Picked up some Talamook yogurt at .40 but they were VERY limited on flavors by 1pm- hopefully they will get a new stock in tomorrow. I also got 4 bags of Rice-a-Roni pasta and rice dishes for .75 each- coupon for 10/$10 plus I had a mfr for $1 off of 4. Turtle mountain ice cream is on sale 2/ $6 (this is a soy based non-dairy ice cream) As mentioned the Amy's products are 40% off but unfortunately they were out of the dairy free pizza - a favorite of my dairy allergic son- but I'll check back later in the week. I'm sure I am leaving out some of the deals I saw- I need to remember to take some pictures next time. Don't forget to save those e-coupons to your Fred Meyer card- I had a a few extra dollars come off because of those. I never print out what is on my card so it's always a surprise what comes off but it feels like I won a prize when I see more money come off after I swipe it LOL.

Fred Meyer Anniversary Sale
Have you all seen the great deals starting Sun. 10/17 for the FM Anniversary Sale? It looks like some good stock up prices for me. If you aren't on their e-mail list you should get on it because they sent out a coupon for triple reward points this week. This came at a perfect time because I am in need of many items and was planning a big shopping trip anyways. I may be a little overly excited about this but it seems like it has been a while since we have a seen a good sale at our local grocery stores or at least on the things I usually buy. My favorite deals include the country oven bread for 1.25 (will purchase a bunch and freeze) - Frito Chips 2/ $3- 2 24pks Coke for $12- 40% off of Amy's Natural Foods (I have some nice coupons to go with those that I recieved when I sent a note asking them if they ever offered coupons!), Organic Valley 30% - there are several coupons for that brand as well. I will post again tomorrow after I go and see what other deals I can find!
